DON'T:

...talk on the phone with someone too long before you meet them.
The conversation can go very differently when you meet in person.

...monopolize the conversation, either on the phone or on a date.

...cancel dates at the last minute, if at all possible.

...push to get on to sexual topics on the first phone calls or
on the initial dates.

...wear out your welcome, calling too often can be a "turn off"
or being "pushy" can become very undesirable and distasteful.

...expect sex on dates. This is NOT a swinger's club or escort service.

...spend a lot of time talking about yourself and all the wonderful things you have done.
Let a person get to know you. They will discover your good qualities without your help.

...pre-judge your date's personality or type on initial phone conversations or initial dates.

...pretend to "not know what you want." If you don't want to see someone again, be honest.



DO:

...let the other person know about your good points,

...at all times, be clean, bathed, neat and dressed for the occasion.

...a lot of good listening.
It's easier to converse and communicate properly when
you pay close attention to what is being said.

...put forth the effort to have fun.
SMILE and be HAPPY. It's contagious!

...suggest places to go and things to do.

...at all times, be courteous and considerate of the other person regardless of what you think of them. Two wrongs don't make a right!

...show an interest in the other person's life and ambitions.

...make sure you know the exact time and place where you are to meet.

...your best to be punctual, be on time when meeting your date.

...use good manners in public and in private.


IN GENERAL:

Make your first meeting brief.
Thirty to sixty minutes is usually sufficient to know if there is
an interest to get together again.

Avoid the "dinner date" scenario for the first meeting.
If food or drink is involved, going "dutch" for
the first meeting is recommended.
