Donna's Daily Diary - January 6, 2010

My first appointment today is a young man, 37, ABS (always been single), his long term goal is marriage and children. He recently ended a two year relationship because she decided she did not want to have children. He feels mislead because she initially told him she also wanted children. He does give her credit for letting him know about her change of mind before she accepted the engagement ring. He took it back and got himself a Rolex. I asked him if they were still communicating and he said “We did for the first few weeks but she met someone else and I lost my desire to stay in touch.” I know many people try to stay friends when a relationship ends but I don’t think it is a good idea. First of all, one of them usually wants more than friendship and, secondly, it can keep both people from moving on emotionally. He is tall, educated, a great sense of humor, loves animals, enjoys skiing, concerts, traveling and, is always working on his house and yard. His sister had a baby a few months ago and his desire to have his own children has been reinforced. He said “The most important thing about having children is to have them with the right person.” I agree.

My second appointment was so much fun! We laughed so hard I was concerned we might be disturbing the folks in the office next door. Some people are just naturally funny and see humor in almost everything, including divorce. After 20 years of marriage her husband told her he wasn’t happy and it was all her fault. Somehow she thought that was funny and she hasn’t quit laughing. She is mid 40’s, divorced, one grown child, a successful realtor and her long term goal is a serious relationship and, possibly marriage. She would love to find a man who enjoys golf. She has also climbed a number of 14ers and, been on a half a dozen cruises. She believes in giving back to the community and supports and participates in a couple of organizations. She said “I want to be able to be myself in a relationship and feel totally comfortable in his presence. I want to be so happy I can hardly stand it.” I’m guessing that’s pretty darn happy.

To be continued tomorrow……………………………
