Donna's Daily Diary - January 11, 2010

I am behind a couple of days on Donna’s Daily Diary because I was SICK! It’s been years since I have been sick enough to stay home for two days and do nothing. I talk with so many people on a daily basis that I am usually aware if there is a “bug” going around. I know I have a lot of company when it comes to this “bug.” Congestion, cough, drained my energy, no fun at all. My daughter in Carbondale lives on the top of a mountain and has been prone to sinus infections which has inspired her to develop a system that has worked for the last three years to keep her healthier. I tried her recommendations last night and I feel sooooo much better today. This is what I did:
Boil a pot of water, put a towel over your head for about 15 minutes and let the steam loosen the congestion.
Use a neti pot to cleanse the nostrils. If you have never heard of a neti pot…check it out on Google.
Use “Simply Saline” to moisturize your nostrils.
Before bed, steam your face for 15 more minutes, rub “Vicks” on your chest, under your nose and, on the bottom of your feet and cover your feet with socks.
I slept all night and woke up feeling 100% better. If you get the “bug”, try it!

Back to Perfectly Matched!

My first appointment on Friday is a lady, mid 50’s, divorced, grown children, has a Masters degree and, is in the medical profession. Her story is a familiar one, the children are grown and doing well and now it’s her time to focus on herself. She loves watching sports, reading, volunteer work, water aerobics, light hiking, spending time with her friends, concerts, beaches and traveling. She likes motorcycles and Vegas and her long term goal is a serious long term relationship, possibly marriage. She has had a couple of long term relationships since her marriage ended and she is really ready to “get it right the next time.” A friend of hers married a man she met through Perfectly Matched so she decided to check it out. When I showed her the programs I offer she said “Now I can see why you say I would meet serious minded men.” She said she wanted to think about it and let me know next week.

My second appointment is a young man, late 30’s, ABS (always been single) and, his long term goal is marriage and children. He has been reading Donna’s Daily Diary and commented on how I have been mentioning ladies in their 30’s and 40’s who are wanting to be married and have children. He thought he could do me a big favor by meeting these ladies and, therefore, I should not charge him. He said “The way I see it, you need me.” I said “I would love to have you as a client but the way I see it, you need me. I am always going to have men walking through my door who want to be married and have children. How many Matchmakers do you think you are going to meet?” Then, IF, he was going to pay me money he wanted “a money back guarantee.” I told him the only guarantee was there was no time frame on my service, I don’t give up and, I add new clients almost every day. Then he wanted to pay me for one match at a time and $1000 bonus if he gets married. I told him I don’t play games with my prices. Then he wanted to pay me double the cost of one match just to meet one of the ladies I spoke with him about because she sounded “perfect” for him. I said “Here’s the deal….you pay the same thing as everyone else if you want my services.” He is now a new client. You can’t blame a guy for trying.

My first appointment on Saturday is a lady, very petite, pretty, sweet natured, down to earth, a nurse. She loves camping, hot springs, the ocean, concerts, traveling and, is very family oriented. In fact, it is her daughter who encouraged her to give me a call. I only have one match for her because she is a smoker. She was surprised that her smoking would be such a limiting factor. She said “Like most smokers, I want to quit but the first time something stressful happens, I know I would smoke.” She is well aware of all the options available to help her quit smoking but she sees down sides to all of them and is basically waiting for something that works instantly. I said “Maybe you have to do some of the work.” She laughed and said “Or maybe I should just meet the one match you have for me who smokes.” She’s going to think about everything we talked about and get back to me.

My second appointment is a young man, early 40’s, divorced, two BA’s, two Masters degrees and, his long term goal is marriage and children. He invested in my most expensive program because I have so many matches for him. He is probably 40 pounds overweight but has already lost 40 pounds and is on track to lose more. Unlike many men who are overweight, he is fine meeting a lady who is overweight. That is one factor that gives him more matches but he also has very match able scores, is flexible on his preferences, extremely bright, has a great job that he loves, has some interesting hobbies (crews for a hot air balloon), has traveled the world, and, is very handsome. We had a great interview and by the time it was over he kind of felt like a little brother. Which is not surprising because this is the kind of man you would want your sister to marry. I think I will be dancing at his wedding!
