Donna's Daily Diary - February 10, 2010

This has absolutely nothing to do with matchmaking but a friend sent me this email yesterday and, long story short, in two minutes I was looking at a full screen picture of my grandparents house in Memphis, Tenn. which I have not seen in 43 years. Check it out at http://www.vpike.com and be prepared for a “blast to the past.” The instant I saw that picture I remembered their steep driveway and roller skating down it when I was eight and busting open my big toe. My grandparents put white rod iron railings on their front porch which are still there and their yard was always beautiful and still is, 43 years later.

My first appointment today is a lady who sounds like she’s 16 and is actually mid 50’s. She is divorced with a teenage child. She is a giver. Some people are just born to be givers and she is one of them. She is fortunate in that she is in a position to not have to work a regular job and many people benefit as a result. She loves blueprints, and architect, planning, building, theaters, the arts, museums, travel and her long term goal is marriage. She was married for over 30 years in her first and only marriage. She said “I loved being married. I want to be married and spent the rest of my life married to the right man.” 40 years ago that was an expectation that most people assumed would happen and today most people wonder if it is even possible. I am going to do everything possible to help her find the right man.

My second appointment today is a young lady, mid 20’s, ABS (always been single), beautiful, actually very beautiful, smart, sweet, funny, tall, owns her home, financially stable, has a great job and everyone would say “Why would she go to a dating service?” The answer is simple…she is not meeting anyone that she is #1 attracted to. #2 a good match intellectually. #3 has similar long term goals..she wants to be married and have kids. #3 likes to do some of the same things..snowboard, mountain climb, travel, biking. #4 is absolutely gorgeous, thinks she’s gorgeous and will always be honest and true. I said “You are very focused at a very young age. Good for you, that makes my job easier.” She said “I have read your website and the only reason I did not call you sooner is because you said you don’t show pictures. I want to see a picture before I meet someone.” I said “OK”. She said “That’s it, OK?” I said “Yes, I can do whatever I want to make this work and if you need to see a picture before you meet someone, I will show you a picture.” Then I showed her a picture and she agreed he will be her first match. Lucky fellow…lucky girl.. I love my job!
