Donna's Daily Diary - February 20, 2010

My first appointment today rescheduled because of the weather. She said “I live in Black Forest and I know when it’s best to stay put.”

My second appointment is a client I worked with 1998. He is late 50’s, has not had a serious relationship for almost 15 years and he is tired of waiting. He is retired, wants to travel, maybe start a nonprofit organization but, more than anything, he wants a special lady to share his life. He has two sisters and a brother who are all happily married for many years. I don’t hear that story very often, it’s usually the other way around, they are all divorced. The point is, he has a good basis of comparison to know what makes his sisters and brother happy. He said “The one quality they all have in their marriages is that they are best friends. That’s what I want, to be married to my best friend. Someone to share this time in life and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Someone who believes in giving back by volunteering or even starting a nonprofit organization.” He has so much energy and enthusiasm for life I can only imagine the energy and enthusiasm he will have for the right woman.

I went to lunch with a client the other day. He is mid 40’s, divorced, a military officer, very funny, very smart and very much wants to fall in love. He said “Donna, I want love flowing in my veins! There is nothing that matters to me more than finding the right lady. I could change my career, I can stay, I can move, I can do whatever it takes to make it work.” This man is not desperate, he is just ready. He has been divorced for 12 years. He has accomplished many of his goals but he has not yet met the right lady. I flashback on him sitting there saying “Donna, I want love flowing in my veins” and I think what a great idea…. love flowing in your veins.
