Donna's Daily Diary - October 20, 2009

My first appointment today is a very unique person. She is in her early 30’s, divorced, two children and, an amazing story.
She recently lost three close family members in one month. She has been divorced for two years. On the day she lost her mother, the man she had been dating for nine months and, spending almost every day with, told her he was married. AND, there’s more. I was worn out just listening to what she has gone through and although she sat there with a smile on her face, the first thing she said to me in the interview was “I am coming to you because I thought I was OK alone but when you bury three people you love, it makes you think. And what I thought was, I don’t want to die alone. If this (Perfectly Matched) doesn’t work for me, I’m DONE. I will just be alone for the rest of my life.” I said “NO pressure, here.” Then I laughed and said “You are SO young and you have ONE basis of comparison as far as men are concerned since you have been divorced and he was MARRIED. You aren’t DONE. You are just off to a bad start.” Then she laughed. If you are going to date, you better have a sense of humor. If you take things personally, it makes it harder for everyone involved – especially, you. She said she needs a couple of days to “think about it” and she will “get back to me.” I don’t think she is quite ready and I would rather work with her when the timing seems more right.

My second appointment is a “be back” I interviewed six weeks ago. This guy is a HUNK! Early 30’s (not a match for the lady before him) divorced, with one child. He is a hunk, not only because he is great looking but, also because he is a great guy. I will tell you something about young, good looking men I interview that might surprise you. They often say the same thing young, good looking women say, “I am tired of going out and meeting someone and right away, they want to have sex with me.” He said “I want to be married again. I want to have more children. I want to find the right woman and raise great kids. I don’t want to be divorced again. I think that someone who wants to have sex with me right away, has sex with other men right away and, that is not a woman I think will be the mother of my children.” He asked me if he would see a picture of the ladies I will match him with and I said “No.” He said, “I have never been on a blind date in my life.” I said “After next week, you won’t be able to say that again.” He’s going to try it my way and see what happens.
