Donna's Daily Diary - October 28, 2009

My first appointment today is a lady, mid 50’s, 5’10, divorced, one grown child and, she is new to Colorado Springs. Her story is very familiar. She has visited Colorado Springs many times over the years and always thought she would live here someday. Now, she does. She has some family here but after just a few months she is feeling the desire to expand her horizons and meet some new people. Of course she came to me to meet some new men. Her height preference for a man starts at 5’10 but if a man is comfortable being a couple of inches shorter than her, that’s fine. She is very classy and has a lot of style. She is very happy to be in Colorado Springs. She came here from a place that almost never sees snow and she said “Aren’t you proud of me for coming out in the snow?” I said “I am.” I honestly thought she would call to reschedule. Instead of being nervous about driving in the snow, she looks at it as another new experience that she is eager to try. Her attitude about being in a new place, starting a new job and meeting new people was so enthusiastic it was refreshing. She is ready to have some fun!

My second interview is a young lady in her early 40’s, widowed, no children and her long term goal is marriage. She does not want to have children and she does not want to meet a man who has children. She said “Nothing against kids, I just don’t want them in my “picture.” I asked her if she would consider a man who had kids that were grown and not living at home. She said “They are never grown and, they can always come back home.” I took that as a “No.” I told her it will be a limiting factor to avoid someone in this age range who has no children. She said “I’m in no hurry, just make sure there are no kids.” I got it, NO kids. She then shared more about why she feels this way and, as I suspected, it was because of a past relationship. I actually have four men who appear to be good matches for her and one of them feels much the same way as she does about kids. He will be her first match.
