Donna's Daily Diary - November 20, 2009

My first appointment today is a lady, early 60’s, widowed, one grown child and three step children who are like her own. She has a Masters degree and a male friend who recently became a client at Perfectly Matched inspired her to call me. She is tall and like most tall ladies, she is open to meeting a man who is at least her height or taller. I sooooo wish shorter ladies would be as open on their height preferences as tall ladies are. She is very physically active and feels that someone younger is more likely to be able to keep up with her. I said “You know how active you are at 61. Can you believe there is a man your age or older who can also be physically active and keep up with you?” I probably say this at least three or four times a week but, age is the least important thing if everything else is there, you find each other attractive and you can keep up with each other. She said she would trust my judgment. Good, because one of the best matches I have for her is 66 and his level of physical activity is at least equal to hers.

On September 2nd I wrote about a couple who met and moved in with each other after just seven weeks. (See Donna’s Daily Diary, September 2nd). I said if they made it through the first three months they will have beaten the odds. If a relationship is not going to make it, it usually ends at about three months because that is the amount of time it takes for most people to get relaxed enough to really “be themselves.” I matched them July 18th. She moved into his home in September. Today she called to say “You can say “I told you so.” It’s over and she will be moving out of his home by the end of the year. She said “You said the ones that start fast, end fast. (See the Bulletin Board on my website and click on “The ones that start fast, end fast.”) I will never rush into a relationship again.” She is concerned that she needs to get back out there right away and start dating or else she may never date again. I suggested she give me a call back after she has moved out and we will go from there.
