Donna's Daily Diary - November 21, 2009

I can tell the holidays are really here, everybody starts going a little crazy. “Should I invite him to Thanksgiving dinner with my family?” “How much should I spend on a Christmas gift?” “I want to give her an engagement ring for Christmas but, is it too soon?” “My sister’s husband is black, should I tell him that before he meets him on Thanksgiving?” And the beat goes on. I talk with so many people on a daily basis and after 22 years in this business, it still surprises how people get so stressed out over the holidays. The holidays should be joyful, not stressful. I am going to do everything I can this holiday season to have more joy and less stress. What a concept!

My first appointment today is a mid forties, lady, divorced and she considers herself a “cougar”. For those of you who have still might not know, a “cougar” is an older lady who dates younger men. She looks like mid thirties, she dresses like mid thirties, she thinks like mid thirties, she acts like mid thirties and she wants to date men in their mid to late thirties. The best match I have for her, all things considered, is 46. She said “I don’t think I will find him attractive.” I said “Just a minute, let me call him.” I called him and he answered his phone. I said “I have a lady here who thinks you will look too old to her because you are 46. Can I show her your picture?” He said “Sure, how old is she?” I said “She’s 45.” He said “I think she might be too old for me.” I said “Hold on.” Then I showed her his picture, which I DON’T usually do and, she was definitely interested. He is going to come in to look at her picture on Tuesday and I know he will be interested. The things I have to do just to get people to date in their OWN age range! Once again, age is the least important thing if you find each other attractive.
